Located just fifteen minutes on foot from the Hotel Le Burgundy, the Théâtre du Palais Royal is one of the essential centres of Parisian cultural life. A historic venue, it perpetuates the principles of high standards and quality but also, and above all, reveals the sheer range of entertainment offered by live theatre.

Award-winning shows

The Théâtre du Palais Royal, an architectural jewel dating from the middle of the 17th century that was remodelled in the 19th, is alternately presenting three top quality productions. The first Edmond, by Alexis Michalik, was awarded 5 Molières. In an intoxicating style, it tells the incredible story of the writing of Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. The second, La Machine de Turing, received 4 Molières and takes a much more serious look at the life of the brilliant mathematician, Alan Turing. Between his closeted homosexuality and his pioneering breaking of the Nazi Enigma code during the Second World War appears the portrait of a complex and fragile man as well as a more general reflection on the weight of what is hidden.

A breath-taking production

The third production currently offered by the Théâtre du Palais Royal has been enchanting more than 100,000 theatregoers for four years now. This is Aladdin, created by Jean-Philippe Daguerre and Igor de Chaillé. Brilliantly sung, danced and acted, this interpretation of the classic tale takes us through stunningly choreographed fights and sumptuous settings to meet more than forty colourful characters. The magic is born as soon as the curtain rises, and we are transported into the mystic east of long ago!

Take advantage of your stay at the Hotel Le Burgundy and treat yourself to an evening at the theatre. Comedy, tragedy, musical, the Théâtre du Palais Royal presents a superb programme with something to entertain all audiences. Our concierges will be happy to help you arrange your evening.
